Works update – Glandore

Extensive work is underway to prepare for major construction starting in 2025. This includes site establishment works, further progressing the design for the new motorway and starting a series of upgrades to the broader network around the T2D Project area. The tender process to select the head contractor is also well underway and we are on track to award the contract in the third quarter of 2024.

We have also continued to engage with community members to seek important local insights about things you have told us are important to you. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to share feedback. These insights have been provided to the two shortlisted potential head contractors to ensure community insights are incorporated into their proposals.

Demolition Works

Demolition works in your area will continue and are expected to be completed by the end of 2024. Works are undertaken Monday to Saturday, between 7am and 6pm. We will be contacting properties adjacent to, or directly impacted by the works, with location specific information and timeframes prior to works commencing.

Wilson Security patrols will continue around-the-clock during this period. If you notice any anti-social behaviour in the area, please call Wilson Security’s dedicated T2D number on 8402 1942.

Temporary Noise Walls

After demolition of properties in the area has been completed, temporary noise walls will be installed. These three-metre-high noise walls will be constructed along the eastern sides of Garland Street and Grosvenor Street. They will be in place until permanent noise walls are installed.
These will assist in mitigating potential traffic noise impacts. They will also provide separation from construction works.
Installation of new kerbing, footpath landscaping and artwork to the eastern sides of Garland and Grosvenor streets will follow the installation of the noise walls.

Permanent closure of section of Forest Street (between South Road and
Grosvenor Street) Glandore

Before commencement of major T2D construction works, the section of Forest Street (between Grosvenor
Street and South Road) will be utilised for construction activities associated with the upgrade of the South
Road tram overpass. This upgrade is being delivered as part of the Tram Grade Separation Projects. More
information about this project will be available in the coming months.
The section of Forest Street, between Grosvenor Street and South Road, will be permanently closed from
Monday 18 March. This closure is now required to allow for site establishment works to occur prior to the
South Road tram overpass upgrade.
Pedestrian and cycle access to South Road will be via Grosvenor Street, Anzac Highway and Glengyle Terrace.
