Location and Timing

Investigations will begin on Sunday, 25 February, at the following locations. We expect to be at each location for approximately two nights:

  • The intersection of South Road and James Congdon Drive, Mile End South.
  • The intersection of South Road and Richmond Road, Mile End South.

Works will be carried out Sunday to Thursday between 7pm and 6am. We’re working at night to minimise impacts on traffic and to ensure the safety of our works.

Additional utility service investigation works will be required in other areas along South Road and Richmond Road. You will receive notifications relating to these works closer to the date.

Traffic Restrictions

  • Access to Deacon Avenue  from South Road (south-bound) will be closed throughout the works.
  • A detour will be in place for heavy vehicles via Sir Donald Bradman Drive or Railway Terrace for heavy vehicles travelling from James Congdon Drive onto South Road.
  • Right-turns for east-bound and west-bound traffic on Richmond Road and south-bound traffic on South Road will have changed traffic conditions at the South Road, Richmond Road intersection at different times. Other movements through this intersection will be maintained.
  • Signage will be in place to alert road users to the changes in traffic conditions. Road users are advised to take care when travelling through the area.

What to expect

During works you may notice additional ground and traffic management personnel and equipment within the area. Some disturbances can be expected such as noise, dust and vibration caused by short term excavation and drilling works.
