Resurfacing works will be undertaken at the intersection of Cross Road and South Road over the Australia Day long weekend as part of the ongoing $22 million resurfacing works along South Road.

These resurfacing works will be undertaken from 9pm, Thursday, 25 January until 5am, Monday, 29 January 2024.

To reduce impacts to community, these works have been scheduled during the planned temporary closure of the Seaford Railway Line over the long weekend for essential maintenance work. These resurfacing works cannot be safely undertaken with trains operating in the Seaford rail corridor.

The intersection of Cross Road and South Road (under the overpass) will be closed to all traffic while these works are undertaken. This includes all on and off ramp from South Road and Cross Road.

Detours will be in place for motorists, heavy vehicles and some Adelaide Metro bus services. Passengers are encouraged to visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to check their timetable in real time and plan their trip with the Adelaide Metro journey planner.

Motorists will still be able to travel along South Road overpass over Cross Road while these works are being undertaken.

From Monday 29 January 2024, speed restrictions will remain in place until line marking is completed over the coming weeks.

These resurfacing works are part of the broader network upgrades along and around the 10.5km stretch of the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project and will tie in to the recently completed works between Bennet Avenue, Melrose Park and Glengarry Avenue, Glandore.

The works will include removing the existing pavement and replacing asphalt which will ensure the long-term safety and integrity of the busy intersection.

The Department apologises for the inconvenience and thanks commuters for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
