  • Broader Network Upgrades project: Manton Street and Adam Street intersection upgrade

As part of the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project there will be $850 million worth of additional network and amenity upgrades along and around the final 10.5km section of South Road. These works are essential to the proper functioning of the motorway and wider road network both during and after construction of the T2D project.

As part of these broader network upgrades the T2D project is planning to upgrade the junction of Manton Street and Adam Street, Hindmarsh. To help inform the design, preliminary site investigations will occur at various locations on and around the junction.

These works will involve the use of service locating equipment, with potholing works being undertaken to confirm the location of underground services within the project area.

Works will commence from Monday, 20 March 2023, for approximately 3 weeks, between 9am and 4pm Monday to Fridays, weather permitting. Works will be carried out intermittently and move progressively around the junction and surrounding roads to minimise impacts to traffic.

The intersection will remain open to traffic at all times. Speed and lane restrictions will be in place in the vicinity of the works. Please take extra care when workers are on site and observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area.

Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to take care when travelling through the area. For safety reasons there may be some restricted access. Where required, signage will be in place to direct pedestrians and cyclists to alternative access and/or detours.

Access to properties will be maintained at all times, with advance notice provided if there is a need to temporarily restrict access.

Some noise disturbance can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to nearby businesses and residents as much as practically possible.

The Department appreciates your cooperation whilst these important works are undertaken.
