T2D STEM Futures
The River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Project is South Australia's largest ever infrastructure project, transforming how communities connect. The T2D STEM Futures program brings the T2D Project into primary school classrooms. Students take part in hands-on STEM challenges that spark curiosity and innovation, aligned to the South Australian curriculum.
Driving a curiosity for South Australian STEM Futures
Science, technology, engineering and maths are at the heart of creating sustainable and inclusive communities. T2D STEM Futures opens a window into the world of the T2D Project. Students can build, design, play and connect with the careers shaping our future.
Developed by world-class experts in STEM, the program helps students to explore real-world STEM challenges.
Throughout the program, students engage with five key themes related to the T2D Project:
Bridges and Connectors
Tunnels and Underground Adventures
Marvellous Machines
Designing Places and Spaces
Creatives at Work.
What's included?
A school assembly or classroom visit offers an immersive experience, engaging students with a behind‑the‑scenes look at the T2D Project. Students will meet members of the team and learn how problem‑solving, creativity and teamwork come together to bring the T2D Project to life.
Two classes from each school will participate in a 90‑minute, hands‑on STEM incursion designed for students in Years 3 to 6. Each class will take part in a separate session, with a maximum of 30 students per session. During the incursion, students will tackle real‑world challenges inspired by the T2D Project.
Each participating school will receive a toolkit designed to extend learning beyond the incursion. This includes STEM challenge cards, a loose parts resource kit and a one‑hour professional learning session for teachers. There is also an opportunity for ongoing collaboration with the T2D team to support learning beyond the visit.
